P90X And Marathon Training

Well, I’m in week 7 of my second round of P90X and I am also training for my second marathon in November. Eating the right amount of calories is critical if I am to keep what muscle I’ve put on through this awesome program.  I am also being wise by listening to my body. During this second round of workouts I have come to the realization that I need to substitute some marathon training such as track work and tempo run’s for the days I am supposed to do plyometrics and Kenpo on P90X.  Why you ask? In order to achieve my goal for this years marathon I must choose what’s important to achieve it come November. Does this mean my second round of P90X is a failure because I’m not doing every single disc like I did before? Absolutely not!

Tony Horton talks about in his book “Bring it” to do what makes you happy and satisfied when it comes to health and fitness. And for me, it’s running! I would like to thank P90X for getting me into the best shape of my life. Thanks to programs like P90X and Tony Horton’s one on ones my core is stronger. I’m more flexible. And my endurance seems to be off the charts for marathon number two. Don’t feel like your cheating yourself out of your workouts by doing what brings you joy in the fitness arena.

To all my fitness junkie’s out there, “Do what makes you happy with no regrets!”
