Challenge Complete! My P90X2 Journey!
This past Saturday I finished my first 90days of P90X2 and all I can say is, “Wow, what a journey it’s been!” When I first started P90X2 on January 1st, 2012 I had doubts, and fears concerning the new program. After all, I am a three time P90X graduate and when you fall in love with a program that brings great results it’s hard to just put down and start a new one even if it’s your favorite trainer like Tony Horton. Let’s face it, we don’t like change. But as Tony would say, “Change is good!” And if we are to continue to grow and be stretched when it comes to our health and fitness then we need to continue to add variety in our exercise routines. I hear Tony again in the back of my mind saying, “Variety is the spice of life!” As fitness enthusiast, we must constantly find new ways to challenge, stretch and motivate ourselves to get to that next level that for many of us desire. So to get to that next level and overcome those fears and concerns one of the first things I did was to join a challenge group. You might be wondering, “What is a challenge group?” A challenge group is a small group of people that hold each other accountable to a program like P90X2 along with the nutrition it takes to get great results. The challenge group that I joined was the person that coaches me. You can check out Coach Sean here. Sean is a P90X2 cast member and knows what it takes to get in great shape. Every person in life needs a coach if they want to achieve success. That is exactly what P90X2 did for me. It pushed me beyond my limits. And trust me, if you are all concerned about the muscle confusion in X2 compared to P90X, don’t be because there is plenty of it. You can check out my first six weeks of the program here that includes the foundation phase and part of the strength phase.
P90X2 builds upon the fitness level that what one has already gained by completing P90X. While it is not recommended that you start P90X2 before completing P90X there are modifications for the routines like in P90X. My advice to one that has never done either would be to check out P90X first. It will give you the foundation you need to go to that next level in X2 land. Let me just say that the medicine ball push up’s and front lever pull ups are no joke in X2. Everything in P90X2 is all about core engagement and connecting the muscles, joints and ligaments in a way that get’s you the body of an athlete.
If you are looking for a new way to press play then I invite you to make me your coach and join one of my P90X or P90X2 challenge groups. I have learned from the best and know what it takes to get in great shape. If you have a question that I cannot answer then “fear not” because you will be joining a team of P90X2 graduates that have been coached by an all star that can assist you.
Let’s Bring it again! The next 90 challenge groups start on Monday April 9th. X2, round 2, here I come! Will you join me?

P90X And P90X2 “Indoor Training For The Outside World!”
Recently, I’ve been asked, “Does P90X ever get too old?” And my answer is simply, “No!” If there is one thing I’ve learned from P90X and it’s creator Tony Horton is that you will thrive where your passion is when it comes to health and fitness. Let’s face it, the reality is that at some point in time your probably not going to be doing P90X ten years from now although that wouldn’t be a bad thing
But hopefully after becoming a graduate from the program you will have learned a thing or two about health and nutrition. Tony himself is a skier and one of the main reason’s why he trains the way he does so when ski season comes around he can go all out and enjoy the slopes and outdoors. Unlike Tony, my passion is not skiing but rather I’m a runner. Nothing get’s me pumped or primed than going out and hitting the pavement and hills preparing for my next marathon. Because of the training that I have received from the P90X and now P90X2 I am a stronger, faster and more flexible runner. I can honestly say that I’m in the best shape of my life. Tony says, “P90X2 is indoor training for the outside world!” I can attest that is so true when it comes to the sport I love. If you are looking to get in the best shape of your life and want to take the sport that’s your passion to the next level then I invite you to give one of these programs a try. You won’t be disappointed.
Also, if you have fallen off your commitment to get in shape this New Year it’s not too late to recommit. Here are some great tips from Tony that have inspired me over the past few years. I hope they inspire you too.

I am currently on my third round of P90X and like many P90X’rs I am anxiously waiting the arrival of P90X2 that releases at the end of November 2011. One of the many reasons I am looking forward to P90X 2 is P.A.P. Some of you might be asking what is P.A.P.? Well, I’ll do my best to describe in layman’s terms.
P.A.P. stands for Post Activation Potentiation. It is rapidly becoming one of the best workout methods known in the scientific world. P.A.P. is what professional athletes are turning to build strength, agility, & stamina to give them the edge they need to become an elite athlete in their respected sport.
The way P.A.P. works is not complicated at all. In fact, it is quite the opposite. First, you do heavy lifting. Immediately following the heavy lifting you do some explosive training. So what you are actually doing during this time is using the slow twitch muscles first, followed by using the fast twitch muscles. By doing this variety of moves you are maximizing the potential of what your muscles can do during a set of explosive training. This is where you get the term Potentiation from. It is where you get the “full potential” use of your muscles. Talk about maximizing your results! P.A.P. does the job! As Tony would say, “Results city baby!”
P90X2 is going to take this new, but simple approach to working out and incorporate it in such a way that makes a 35 year old like me feel like I’m 25 again. While we all know that we can’t prevent aging, we can use methods such as P.A.P. to make us feel younger and still help us achieve desired goals on our fitness journey.
I invite you to join me this coming January as I begin P90X2. Be sure to check out my results from P90X. I know what it takes to keep the weight off. After struggling with weight gain for years I found P90X and since then have never gone backward. I can help you too.
